UAE Visa Overstay Fines Waived, Announces ICP

Relief for the tourists in the United Arab Emirates after the airspace disruption. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) has announced that the UAE visa overstay fines will be waived on March 4th, 2026. It applies to fines incurred on or after February 28th, 2026.  They cover several visa categories, including tourist visas, visit visas, exit permits, and even individuals whose residency permits were cancelled but who could not depart the country on time.

It was announced after several days of flight disruptions across the UAE. The temporary airspace closure led to a large number of travelers staying in the country past their planned dates. But now that UAE visa overstay fines are waived, the tourists will no longer be penalized for overstaying in case of delayed departure due to the disruptions. The ICP revealed it is meant to make things easy for travelers who were caught in this situation unexpectedly, before they could even return to their country.
