A Japan e-visa is a single-entry electronic visa. It will allow tourists to stay in the country for 90 days. But it is totally for tourism purposes. So, the passports will no longer receive physical visa stickers. Instead, the applicants will get a ‘Visa issuance notice’. Also, a digital confirmation is mandatory at the airport check-in.

Note: Travelers have to show the visa notice directly on a connected device at the airport. No printed copies, PDFs, or screenshots will be accepted at the departure.

Note: Countries or nationals that qualify for visa-free entry for short stays don’t need to submit applications for short-term visas.

Special Rules for Some Countries

A few travelers must follow country-specific procedures as per their residence or nationality.

China- Chinese nationals must apply for the visa through government-verified travel agencies. The visa issued will allow a 15–30 day stay.

Vietnam- Citizens of Vietnam must apply for a visa as part of a tour package via a trusted travel agency. The visa issued offers a limited stay in Japan for 15 days.

Other countries- Residents from the below-mentioned countries can apply for a Japan visa online unless they are exempt. But, still apply via Japanese-accredited agencies.
