6 Nights Bhutan Tour Day Wise Itinerary

DAY 1: Thimphu - Explore Thimphu - Check in

Your journey begins with a warm welcome at Paro Airport, where you will meet our representative. From the airport, you will be transferred to a nearby restaurant for lunch, which will be at your own expense, giving you a comfortable break after arrival.

After lunch, continue your drive to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, located at an altitude of 7,710 feet. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and take some time to settle in. Later, step out to explore Thimphu’s local markets and handicraft shops, where you can get a glimpse of everyday life and traditional crafts.

In the evening, visit the iconic Tashichho Dzong, known as the Fortress of the Glorious Religion, and witness the flag hoisting ceremony. Spend some relaxed time at the local market before returning to the hotel for an overnight stay in Thimphu.

DAY 2: Kuensel Phodrag - Simply Bhutan - Takin Preserve Centre

Begin your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before heading out for a full day of sightseeing in Thimphu. The tour starts with a visit to Kuensel Phodrang, home to the massive Buddha statue that overlooks the city and offers a calm, open setting to start the day.

Next, proceed to the National Memorial Chorten, one of the city’s most important religious landmarks and a place where locals gather for daily prayers. Continue to Simply Bhutan, a living museum where an in-house lady guide introduces you to the traditional Bhutanese lifestyle, customs, and crafts in an engaging way.

Later, visit the Takin Preserve Centre, which shelters Bhutan’s national animal in a natural enclosure. The day concludes with relaxed time exploring the town and local markets at your own pace. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

DAY 3: Punakha - Dochula Pass - Chimi Lhakhang

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, check out of your hotel and begin your journey towards Punakha. En route, stop at the scenic Dochula Pass, situated at 3,150 meters, where you can take in wide views of the higher Himalayan ranges on clear days.

Upon arrival in Punakha, visit the impressive Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. This historic fortress once served as the seat of the Bhutanese government and continues to function as the winter residence of the Je Khenpo. Later, explore the Punakha Suspension Bridge, one of the longest in Bhutan, followed by a visit to Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple. The day ends with an overnight stay in Punakha.

DAY 4: Phobjikha Valley - Gangtey Monastery

Start your day with a refreshing breakfast at the hotel before heading out towards Phobjikha Valley. This glacial U-shaped valley is known for its untouched landscapes and as the seasonal home of the endangered Black-Necked Crane, making it one of the most peaceful regions in Bhutan.

On arrival, explore the Gangtey Monastery, a prominent spiritual site that also lends the valley its alternate name, Gangtey. Continue to the Phobjikha Black-Necked Crane Centre, where you can learn about ongoing conservation efforts and the importance of preserving this unique habitat. Later, return to Punakha and unwind after the day’s excursion. Overnight stay at Punakha.

DAY 5: Paro - Tamchog Iron Bridge - National Museum(Ta Dzong) - Rinpung Dzong

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and begin your drive from Punakha to Paro. En route, stop at the Tamug Iron Bridge and an airport viewpoint, offering a short break and scenic views before arriving in Paro.

After check-in at the hotel, head out in the evening to visit the National Museum, housed in the historic Ta Dzong, which showcases Bhutan’s rich heritage through artifacts, art, and historical exhibits. Continue to Rinpung Dzong, a striking fortress-monastery known for its traditional architecture and its role in Paro’s religious and administrative life. If time permits, explore Paro town and admire its traditional streets and buildings. Overnight stay at Paro.

DAY 6: Day at Leisure - Optional: Tiger’s Nest Hike

Start your day by fueling up with a delicious breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, the rest of the day is free for you to explore Paro at your own pace or simply relax and enjoy the surroundings.

For those looking to add more to the day, optional tours are available at an additional cost. You may choose to embark on the famous hike to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest, a rewarding 5 to 6-hour trek from the base camp that offers stunning views of the monastery perched high on a cliff. Alternatively, you can opt for a traditional hot stone bath, a perfect way to chill out. Stay overnight at Paro.

Have a delicious breakfast at the hotel, depending on your departure time. After breakfast, proceed with the check-out formalities from the hotel.
